TidalHealth located in Salisbury, MD, is seeking an innovative leader who is an American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association Board-Certified Physician, to become the program director for our brand-new Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship Program!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, organize, plan the program structure, and direct the new Hospice and Palliative Care Fellowship Program at TidalHealth
  • Maintain current knowledge of and compliance with ACGME Institutional and Program Requirements
  • Participate in Graduate Medical Education Committee (GMEC), subcommittees and task forces (including program representation at all GMEC meetings), and internal review panels as requested
  • Curriculum development and overseeing education and clinical care in all program related patient care areas the organization of rotations and other educational activities at all clinical sites that participate in the program
  • Maintain active clinical practice in Hospice and Palliative medicine
  • Recruit, interview and select the Hospice and Palliative Care fellows
  • Submit reports on program, faculty, and fellow performance to the GMEC as requested by the Chair of the GMEC.
  • Update annually both program and fellowship records through the ACGME's Accreditation Data System.
  • Ensure the implementation of fair policies, grievance procedures, and due process, as established by the GMEC, and in compliance with the ACGME Institutional Requirements.
  • Prepare an accurate statistical and narrative description of the program as requested by the Review Committee of the ACGME.
  • Prepare for and participate in the on-site program reviews.

Key Requirements:

  • Physician with current active clinical practice in hospice and palliative medicine
  • Current board-certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties or American Osteopathic Association in one of the primary specialties listed below:
    • Anesthesiology
    • Emergency Medicine
    • Family Medicine
    • Internal Medicine
    • Obstetrics and Gynecology
    • Pediatrics
    • Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation
    • Psychiatry and Neurology,
    • Radiology
    • Surgery
  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Maryland
  • Eligible for unrestricted Active Medical Staff Privileges
  • A minimum of two years in a clinical practice of hospice and palliative medicine
  • Documented involvement in education and scholarly activities, which includes mentoring fellows (ie, guiding fellows in the acquisition of competence in the clinical, teaching, research, and advocacy skills pertinent to the discipline), serving as a clinical supervisor in an inpatient or outpatient setting, developing curricula, and/or participating in didactic activities
  • Knowledge and understanding of the requirements for enduring accreditation as an ACGME-accredited program in Hospice and Palliative medicine
  • The ability to manage a departmental budget and staff
