As a RN Device Specialist, your duties will include:
Providing assistance to nursing and medical care teams.
Initiating and troubleshooting devices, including ECMO, VAD, CRRT and PD.
Assisting with planning, educating, training, and validating competency of the nurses caring for patients on these devices.

This position is eligible for the Nursing Student Loan repayment program.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.
  • Evaluates, initiates, and maintains standards of care consistent with CCHS policies and procedures.
  • Assists nursing and medical team initiating and troubleshooting devices.
  • Assists in the preparation of department specific education for patients, families, and colleagues specific to devices (ECMO, VAD, CRRT, PD, etc.).
  • Assists with educating, training, and validating competency of nurses caring for patients on devices.
  • Supports data collection for quality improvement and adherence to regulatory requirements.
  • Monitors and assists with obtaining supplies specific to devices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing. BSN preferred.

Languages:

  • Language required - English
  • Language preferred - English

Certifications:

  • State licensure as Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification

Complexity of Work:

  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action

Work Experience:

  • Two years of recent clinical nursing experience required.
  • One year pediatric experience highly preferred.
  • One year of experience working with devices (ECMO, VAD, CRRT & PD) preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
